Westville Swimming Club’s Social Responsibility

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Westville Swimming Club believes it should be a part of the community in the widest sense and that its success should not solely be measured on the number of medals we win, but also on the social impact the Club has on the community in which it exists.

Our Club has taken the initiative to be responsible on a social wellbeing level for the previously disadvantaged individual. We aim to facilitate by providing training and teaching ethical, appropriate, polite and fair behavior while participating in swimming.  We provide all year training with a heated facility in the winter months, mentorship for swimmers and coaches and hands on coaching experience.

Our Sponsors contribute to making this initiative of Westville Swimming Club a reality.

Westville Swimming Club acknowledges social responsibility as an important component of its Club’s structure and as such believes in the sustainable development of previously disadvantaged individuals.

Westville Swimming Club thus has it focus on projects and initiatives in the areas of education, sportsmanship and training, giving candidates the life skill of water safety.

Westville Swimming Club offers scholarships to all swimmers that meet the selection criteria. Currently WSC has five swimmers that are on our program.

Furthermore Westville Swimming Club also employs interns for mentorship on coaching to gain the necessary workplace experience. We aim to educate and teach coaches on how to run a successful and sustainable Club to equip them to start their own swimming program and Club in their hometown.

WSC works closely with KwaZulu Natal Aquatics to provide every possible opportunity for successful candidates.
